Zebra Mussels Found In Pit

Zebra mussels have been found in a mine pit near Virginia, Minnesota.

The state’s Natural Resources department says the invasive species were found while the Rochleau pit was being drained for future mining.

Dewatering operations have been temporarily halted because the water was being pumped into a lake that eventually flows into Lake Superior.

It’s not immediately certain how the zebra mussel got into the mine pit in the first place.
