In the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League playoffs, the Fort Frances Braves advanced to the East final after a 7-3 win over Windey’s Warriors.

Dakota Andy and Travis Tom hit homers in the game.

In the west, Barwick Knights blanked the Sabaskong Lakers 8-0 advance.

Stratton defeated Dawson 9-4 in an elimination game and will face the Lakers next Tuesday for the right to play Barwick in the west final.

 

Kevin Metke scored twice to lead CJ Contracting to a 2-1 win over Manitou Forest Product in the Borderland Soccer League’s men division semi-final.

CJ Contracting advances on aggregate 3-1 to face Centra Pipelines in next week’s final.

 

On the race track in Winnipeg, Emo’s Christopher Leek was 6th in the mid-west modified feature at Red River Co-op Speedway.

Cameron Brown of Rainy River was 11th in the modified feature at Grand Rapids Speedway.

Joey Krause of International Falls was 11th in the mid-west mod feature at the same track.

 

The SIJHL has released its schedule for the 2019-20 season.

It opens September 20 with the Fort Frances Lakers hosting Thief River Falls.

The annual Showcase is scheduled for February 4-5 Spooner, Wisconsin, home of the expansion Wisconsin Lumberjacks.

 

Former champs Bill Godin from Devlin and Leroy Wilson from International Falls are sitting third after the first day of fishing at the Kenora Bass International.

They reeled in 17.76 lbs of fish.

Aaron Wiebe and Peter Tully lead with 18.57 lbs.
