Making A Blizzard For Children’s Hospitals

It’s Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen.

That means proceeds of Blizzard sales will go towards the Children’s Miracle Network.

In Fort Frances, the money is directed to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.

Co-owner of the local DQ Christin Thomson says the Winnipeg Children’s Hospital does have a connection to the Rainy River district and northwestern Ontario.

“There have been kids in our area that have had to go to the children’s hospital in Manitoba so that gives people a good feeling that actually we are supporting our local community,” says Thomson.

“It’s a great hospital. We’ve met some of the people that work with Dairy Queen and they really love what they do. It gives you a really good feeling to know that they’re just doing everything that they can to make sure that the kids have a more positive experience.”

Along with the purchase of a Blizzard, Thomson says they also accept donations in another way.

“We usually have Miracle balloons here we can fill out with your name on it. We can also fill out balloons for any business or corporation that would like to make a monetary donation,” says Thomson.

Miracle Treat Day in the U.S. was held last month.
