A northwestern Ontario connection to a case of child molestation reported in Washington State.
A 62-year-old man from Port Townsend, located north of Seattle, was arrested Monday on a charge of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign place.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the man took a 6-year-old child to a family cabin in northwestern Ontario in August of 2017.
When they returned, the child told the parent of the sexual molestation and that they were to keep quiet about it.
The parent confronted the man before notifying authorities.
The case is also being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations.
