Fifteen Blazes Now Active

Two new forest fires in northwestern Ontario were reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry yesterday.

One is burning along the Ontario-Manitoba border near Frances Lake, north of Kenora, and covers 99 hectares.

The other near Three Finger Lake east of Marathon has since been declared out.

It brings to 15 the number of active fires in northwestern Ontario.

Large blazes near Keewaywin, Pikangikum and at Nungesser Lake, 40 kilometres north of Red Lake, are the only ones considered not under control.
