Exhibit Opens Tomorrow

An exhibit focusing on the discovery of explorer Sir John Franklin’s ship opens at the Fort Frances Museum until tomorrow.

“Echoes in the Ice: Finding Franklin’s Ship” will be on display until the end of September.

Curator Sherry George says the exhibit provides some insight into that discovery two years ago.

“It’s history, it’s a modern forensic story, it’s the whole exploration of the north. To find the ships was very exciting,” says George.

Because of the cost of bringing the exhibit here, admission fees will double during the summer.

“We hope that won’t be a hardship for families. A family rate will be $24. I think it’s worth it for people to come. They don’t have to travel to a larger center to see this. They’ll be able to see it here northwestern Ontario, so I hope people look at it in that way,” says George.

An official opening of the exhibit will take place next Wednesday.
