Forest Fire Hazard Increases

The forest fire hazard has inched up in the Rainy River district.

It’s now in the high range with an area around Atikokan identified as moderate.

There’s only one fire burning in the district. That’s a small blaze near Straw Lake, about 50 kilometres north of Fort Frances which is being monitored by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Warmer daytime temperatures are drying things out and making the woods more susceptible to burning.
