Local Sports For Friday, June 14

Jesse Tom slugged two homers as the Fort Frances Braves whitewashed the Rainy River Royals 10-nothing in the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League.

That extends the Braves win streak to seven games.

Stratton won its third in a row with a 5-2 victory over Sight and Sound.

Elsewhere, Sabaskong Lakers got by Manitou 11-8.

Barwick dumped Northwest Bay 16-3.

Braden Smith and Ben Smith with an inside-the-park effort, hit homers for the Chieftains.

Couchiching doubled up the Goldeneyes 10-5.

Dawson edged the Warriors 10-9.

Marcel Pagee with a homer in a losing cause of the Warriors.

 

Fort Frances High School athletes being recognized this week at the Muskies annual awards banquet.

Grace Petsnick was named female athlete of the year.

Austin Armstrong was named male athlete of the year.
