Lots Happening On June 1st

It’s been a busy first day of June in The Borderland and I’ve tried to be a part of as many of the things going on today as I can.

Team “Colours For A Cure” are hosting a Relay for Life Bake Sale Fundraiser at The Bargain Shop in Fort Frances. The ladies have created some delicious treats. I picked up some goodies and I even have my luminary ahead of time so I can decorate it for Relay for Life happening in Fort Frances on June 22nd!

The Rainy River Association of Professional Paramedics and Rainy River District Paramedic Services have been celebrating Paramedic Services Week with a series of free public barbecues, the last of which happened today at The Fort Frances Ambulance Base. It was nice to tour the base and enjoy a burger. First responders deal with and see things that we don’t always think about and they NEVER get the full credit that they deserve!

It was a great turn out for The Borderland Autism Awareness Walk. I was lucky enough to catch up with some wonderful friends who were part of the festivities. The group started at The Sorting Gap Marina and ended at the corner of Crowe and Front Streets. Then everyone moved on to Legion Park for some kids entertainment, refreshments and public discussion. Coming together to talk and to celebrate is incredibly important.

There’s always something going on here in The Borderland. It’s the best part about living here!
