Local Sports Report For Friday, May 31

A pair of make-up games in the Rainy River District Men’s Fastball League last night.

Couchiching defeated Manitou 17-3.

Faron Morriseau hit a home run for the Raiders.

Kevin Copenance and Charlie Debungee went yard in a losing cause for the Thunderbirds.

Stratton doubled up Rainy River 4-2.

Aiden Tom had a home run in that game.

Guy Arpin picked up the win on the mound.

Both games had been rain-outs from last week.

 

Gavin Paull of Fort Frances was fifth in the modifed feature at Winnipeg’s Red River Coop Speedway.

He won a heat race earlier in the evening.

He now stands fifth in the standings after two weeks of racing.

 

International Falls Broncos girls golf team captured the Section 7AA championship for a fourth straight year, finishing 29 strokes better than runners-up Eveleth-Gilbert.

Kenzie Wenberg finished second in the individual standings.

Teammates Morgan Rasmussen and Olivia Wright were fourth and fifth respectively.
