Fort Frances Lakers coach Luke Judson on stellar season

The Fort Frances Lakers had an incredible run this 2025/2026. They came as close and you can get to winning a championship

The team battled back from a two goal deficit before being bested by the Thunder Bay North Stars in overtime of game seven of the SIJHL final.

Fort Frances was looking for their first Bill Salonen Cup with since 2016. They had won three championships in a row at that point. It now looks like fans have reason to be optimistic that a winning formula and culture have returned to the team and the franchise.

While this current loss hurts right now, the Lakers have A LOT to celebrate when it comes to what they accomplished this season.

Emo’s Brady Cates had a truly remarkable season in net, winning Rookie of the Year, Goalie of the Year and League MVP.

While the Lakers bench boss Luke Judson earned Coach of the Year.
