The Fort Frances Lakers must now find a way to win on the road if they want any chance of winning the Bill Salonen Cup.
The Lakers find themselves down 2 games to 0 against the Thunder Bay North Stars after a second straight loss at home in the SIJHL finals.

Over 800 fans were on hand at the Memorial Sports Centre in the Ice For Kids Arena, hoping for Fort Frances to even the series.

The game started off well for the Lakers, with Teagan Wrolstad scoring on the power play just over 8 minutes into the first period.

Thunder Bay evened things up just after 14 minutes into the game, as Lucas Bertolin found the back of the net.

Just over 14 minutes into the second period, Gunner Simon scored to put the Lakers out front once again by a goal.

No more scoring happened in period number two, as goalies Brady Cates and Morgan Blackwood stood tall in net.
The Lakers actually outshot the North Stars 33 to 23 in total.

As the third period began, it didn’t take long for Thunder Bay to tie things up once again.
This time Matthew Bertolin did the scoring less than two minutes in.

The game remained tied until Fort Frances took a badly timed penalty with just over two minutes left to play in regulation.

Lucas Bertolin soon buried his second goal of the night roughly 20 seconds in the North Stars power play.

3-2 Thunder Bay was the final score.
Games 3 and 4 happen in Thunder Bay on April 20th and 21st.
The Lakers need to win at least one of these games to bring the series back to their home ice for a possible game 5 on April 24th.
