When one thinks of big time Canadian rock bands that made their mark in the 90’s and beyond, you have to include Big Sugar in the top tier of that list.
Gordie Johnson and company are one of the best selling bands that our country has ever had to offer. They have been making music for almost four decades and continued to gain new fans, while delighting long standing ones, with a style that fuses heavy blues-rock with roots reggae, dub, and soul.
They will be giving a pair of concerts in and around the Borderland to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their platinum selling, Juno nominated album “Hemi-Vision”.
On January 27th, they with be presented by the Atikokan Entertainment Series in Saint Patrick’s School Auditorium.
On January 28th, they will be presented by Tour De Fort at the Townshend Theatre in Fort Frances.

The current lineup is a trio, featuring Anders Drerup on bass and Root Valach on drums.
I had the chance to chat with Big Sugar front man Gordie Johnson ahead of the bands concerts here in northwestern Ontario.
