Canadian Tire in Fort Frances expected to reopen next month

It will be a few more weeks before the Canadian Tire store in Fort Frances is reopened.

The store was shut down following an arson fire just days before Christmas.

In an email to Acadia News, a company spokesperson says the store is undergoing cleaning, safety checks and remediation work.

Several transport trailers have been on site for several days, with trucks seen leaving the site regularly.

The spokesperson says inventory is being checked, with any undamaged items returning to shelves for resale if possible.

She says they expect to reopen the store and welcome customers back by the end of February.

A 15-year-old Fort Frances youth, who can not be named, was charged with lighting the fire.

The company did not comment in the email on the extent of the damage that was caused.
