Fort Frances removes fee for contract bids

Businesses and others wanting to bid on Fort Frances contracts will no longer be required to pay a fee.

The town is now paying the fee to its online tendering system that allows bidders to make bids at no cost.

The system was put in place two years ago to streamline the tendering process.

At the time, council agreed to require bidders to pay a small fee to access the system.

Moving to a free-bid option will now cost the town about $3,800 a year.
