Bell Lays Off Technicians

Unifor says Bell Canada has laid off 76 of its technicians working in Ontario and Quebec.

Notices were issued last week.

Unifor says the layoffs come as the telecommunications giant contracts out work for a Wireless to the Home project.

That project aims at connect rural residents with wireless high-speed internet.

Unifor’s now preparing to launch a campaign opposing the contracting-out of that work.
