Lake levels holding steady

The International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board’s Water Levels Committee is allowing dam operators to increase outflows from Rainy and Namakan Lakes.

They are doubling to more than 50 cubic metres per second over a three-day period.

No change is being made to the range where levels should be.

The area has not seen much rain in the last month.

Environment Canada notes just over 20 millimetres of precipitation in the Fort Frances area over the last month.

The Water Levels Committee says it will continue to monitor conditions and weather forecasts over the coming weeks and provide further direction on lake levels as needed.
