Outbreak over at La Verendrye, continues at Rainycrest

Visitor restrictions at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances have been lifted.

They were put in place at the end of April because of a gastro outbreak in the hospital’s Second Floor In-Patient Unit.

Riverside Health Care has now declared that outbreak to be over.

A similar outbreak at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances has also been declared over in the home’s West Wing, but it remains active for the rest of the facility.

Enhanced visitor restrictions remain in place for the East Wing where residents are permitted no more than two visitors or caregivers in their room at any one time.

Group social activities have also been cancelled, while restrictions on admissions, transfers, and discharges may also be considered.

Visitors planning to visit residents in the West Wing are being asked to self-screen before visiting to help prevent the spread of illness.
