Lakers to be promoted along King’s Highway

Fort Frances town council is allowing the Fort Frances Lakers to hang banners along King’s Highway.

The banners will highlight team members.

Councillor Steve Maki says it will help promote the club.

“It’s not costing us anything. It’s promoting something that’s within the community and hopefully generates a little more support for the team, which, in turn, they’ll be able to put a better product out,” says Maki

Mayor Andrew Hallikas agrees, calling it a great opportunity to showcase the home team.

“We should be proud of the Lakers. They’re great representatives of our community, and having young athletes having their pictures up in our community, I think, is a good example for our youth,” says Hallikas

The Lakers have agreed to cover any installation costs.

Team officials say the banners would appear during a period that does not conflict with others promoting Remembrance Day or high school graduation.
