Fort Frances home collapses – no injuries reported

A Fort Frances home that was under renovation will now be demolished.

Emergency officials were called to the home at the corner of Crowe Avenue and Second Street East at around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The home, at the time, was on temporary lifts to permit the construction of a basement.

A thermal camera and an OPP drone were used to ensure no one was inside or near the structure at the time of the collapse.

An engineering firm was also called to inspect the damage.

Because of the risk now posed to the public, the owners have been ordered to tear the building down.

That work is expected to take place as quickly as possible.
