COVID outbreak declared over

Riverside Health Care says it is lifting visitor restrictions that were imposed at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances because of a COVID outbreak.

Riverside says that outbreak has now been declared over.

It was limited to the hospital’s first floor.

Riverside Health Care says while visitor restrictions are being lifted, it is asking the public to refrain from visiting if experiencing any symptoms of illness.

The public is also reminded to prevent getting and spreading infections by:
• Washing hands often, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer,
• Maintaining good cough and sneeze etiquette (into a tissue, your sleeve or elbow),
• Putting all used tissues in the garbage right away,
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, and
• Staying at home if sick, to avoid spreading infections to others.
