New CAO to be named by Fort Frances

The town of Fort Frances is set to name a new Chief Administrative Officer.

A special meeting is scheduled for tonight where council is expected to approve the hiring of Marcel Michaels.

Michaels is currently the CAO of Consort, Alberta, a village of about 700, located east of Red Deer.

Before that, he was mayor of Hinton, Alberta for almost six years.

Pending council’s approval, he would start his new position on May 28th.

Travis Rob, the town’s Operations and Facilities Manager, will continue to serve as interim CAO until then before returning to his normal position.

Fort Frances has been without a full-time CAO since the departure of Faisal Anwar at the end of March 2023.
