A change in leadership for Couchiching First Nation

Band elections held earlier this month have resulted in a new face becoming the leader of the Couchiching First Nation.

Richard Bruyere defeated Brian Perrault, who has served the role for the past eight years.

Five of six councillors were also returned to office with David Bruyere being the only newcomer.

Legislation under the Indian Act requires elections for Chief and Council every two years.
