Former Muskie joins ECHL’s K-Wings

A former member of the Fort Frances Muskies has signed on with the Kalamazoo Wings of the East Coast Hockey League.

The team has announced it has signed Tyler Vanuden to a Standard Player Contract after being loaned from the Quad City Storm of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

In six games, the Fort Frances native scored one goal and added two assists in six games with the Storm.

He began the 2023-24 season with the Fayetteville Marksman, playing just two games before being traded to Quad City in mid-January.

Before signing in the SPHL, Vanuden played at the NCAA DIII level with Finlandia and Buffalo State.

Vanuden starred with the Muskies in their NorWOSSA title wins in 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, scoring 31 goals and 93 points over the two seasons.

He would play the next four seasons in junior hockey in British Columbia.
