Two people killed in fatal fire in Weenusk

There has been a fatal house fire on the Weenusk First Nation.

The Nishnwabe Aski First Nation says two people were killed in the blaze whick took place late last Thursday night.

Three other people were injured, and were were transported to hospital with undermined injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigating NAPS and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office.

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation says it’s also a year since a fatal fire in the same community claimed the life a 10 year old girl.

Weenusk is near Hudson’s Bay and is about 780 kilometers north of Thunder Bay.
