Polar Plunge postponed

A New Year’s Day tradition in Fort Frances has been postponed.

A spokesperson with the Voyageur Lions Club says ice conditions on Rainy Lake have deteriorated to the point that it is not safe to hold its Polar Plunge.

It will now be held on Family Day in February.

The event invites people to jump into the lake to raise money for local charities.

Thirteen people raised $5,200 last New Year’s Day.
