Fort Frances council meets tonight

A contract to examine the condition of Sunny Cove Camp’s Russel Hall comes before Fort Frances town council tonight.

Administration recommends the town accept a proposal from TBT Engineering, costing just over $67 thousand.

The town hopes some of the cost can be covered through a government grant.

The services of an engineering firm were sought earlier this year after council opted not to sell the camp.

A previous report suggested Russel Hall, the camp’s main building, was suffering from rotting logs and a carpenter ant infestation.

User fees are also on the agenda.

Pending council approval, most fees will increase by 3.3% in the new year.

This does not include water and sewer, as those rates are determined separately.

Administration is recommending other changes, including lowering the cost of some pool programs and adding new administration charges to civil marriages.

There is also a suggestion to freeze the fees to use the Townshend Theatre.

Tonight’s meeting at the Civic Centre begins at 5:30 p.m.
