Another First Nation connected to the grid

A second First Nation community in the far north has been connected to the provincial power grid.

North Caribou Lake is part of the $1.9 billion Wataynikaneyap Power project.

The community is now off diesel generators, which chief Cornelius Benson says are unsafe, unreliable and inadequate to meet the needs of a growing community.

The goal is to connect 24 First Nations with the new 590 kilometer electrical line.
