Visitors restrictions imposed as Rainycrest

A respiratory outbreak has been declared at Rainycrest Long Term Care Home in Fort Frances.

It is limited to the home’s East wing.

It has resulted in visitor restrictions, with residents permitted only two visitors or caregivers at any one time.

Visits must only take place in the resident’s room.

There are also restrictions in place on admissions, transfers, discharges, and large group social activities for East wing residents until further notice.

Riverside Health Care Facilities says safety procedures and infection prevention control practices in place

The public is reminded to prevent getting and spreading infections by:
• Washing hands often, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer;
• Maintaining good cough and sneeze etiquette, including sneezing/coughing into a tissue, your sleeve or elbow;
• Putting all used tissues in the garbage right away;
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth; and
• Staying at home if sick, to avoid spreading infections to others.
