he Minnesota Department of Revenue is preparing to issue tax rebates approved in this year’s budget.
Residents earning $75 thousand or less will get $260, while couples earning $150 thousand or less will get $520.
Families could receive up to $1,300.
The department says it is now in the process of determining who is eligible by reviewing 2021 tax returns.
It plans to issue the money sometime this fall.
As many as 2.4 million people could be eligible.
“This rebate will help millions of Minnesotans pay for everyday expenses such as groceries, school supplies, rent, or childcare,” says Revenue Commissioner Paul Marquart. “We know it will be very valuable to a lot of people, and we look forward to sending payments out in early fall.”
An online portal at taxrebate.mn.gov has been set up for residents needing to correct their banking information.
Any changes have to be submitted before 5:00 pm CST on Friday, July 28.
