Road improvements near splash park underway

Work on a component of the proposed splash park is now taking place.

Construction crews are well into the upgrade of Lillie Avenue.

Makkinga Contractors started its work last week, beginning with a new parking lot at the south end of the road.

A sliding hill is also being formed using excavated materials.

The replacement of water pipe was started this week.

The plans also call for signal lights at the corner of Lilllie and King’s Highway.

The cost of the work is estimated at over $1.5 million.

Provincial funding is covering most of the construction costs.

The work should be complete by early August.
