COVID outbreak declared over

Riverside Health Care and the Northwestern Health Unit say a COVID outbreak at Rainycrest Long Term Care is over.

The Fort Frances home has lifted all restrictions imposed on residents and visitors.

The outbreak was initially reported in the East and West wings at the end of April but later extended to the entire home.

The home still has other safety procedures and infection prevention control measures in place.

It is also reminding visitors and caregivers to help prevent getting and spreading infections by:

  • Washing hands often, for at least 15 seconds, with soap and warm water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer,
  • Maintaining good cough and sneeze etiquette (into a tissue, your sleeve or elbow),
  • Putting all used tissues in the garbage right away,
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, and
  • Staying at home if sick to avoid spreading infections to others.
