Spring Break starts with more snow

Expect a bit of snow to start the March Break.

Gerald Cheng is a meteorologist from Environment Canada says we can expect about 5 centimeters overall.

“Right now we see the system coming in around Saturday, so perhaps shortly after the lunch-hour, that’s when the snow will start.

“And the snow will continue through the evening and even into the overnight before tapering off Sunday morning.”

Cheng adds this a system that is brewing in the U.S. which will impact areas to the west of the Ontario/Manitoba border the most.

“You know locally, we could see 5 centimeters or so. Some places might get a little more, but you would have head west. The more west you go, there is slightly more (snow), but actually Manitoba is getting a lot more.”

There is a Special Weather Statement in effect for Winnipeg with 10 to 20 centimeters of snow combined with eastly winds gusting from 40 to 60 kilometers per hour.
