Safeway helps Salvation Army

The Salvation Army in Fort Frances starts 2023 with some extra cash in the bank.

The Safeway Store is donating over $59 hundred, collected during its Joy of Giving campaign in December.

The Salvation Army’s Arthur Heathcote says it will be put to good use at their food bank.

“The money is used pretty much to keep perishables on the shelf. As well, we do fruit for Meals on Wheels bi-weekly,” says Heathcote.

December’s campaign exceeded the 2021 event by more than one thousand dollars.

The store’s Assistant Manager, Samantha Stuart, credits their customers for the support.

“I am so proud of our community for coming together to support those who need help. It makes me proud to be from this community and proud to serve all the residents every day,” says Stuart.
