Local Sports for Tuesday, January 17

The Fort Frances Lakers have added to their lineup.

Trever Sanderson joined the club prior to the recent weekend series against Red Lake.

Sanderson played for the Red Lake Miners at the start of the season before joining the Cochrane Crunch of the Northern Ontario junior league, where he only played one game.

 

The International Falls Curling Club, which operates out of the Fort Frances club, held its Ice Box Days Open Bonspiel on the weekend.

The pandemic curtailed the event for the past two years.

Mike Badiuk beat Steve Gushulak in the A-side final.

Kathie Jackson won the B-side over Sam Clifford.

Seppo Sormunen of Duluth was victorious in the C-side over Ken McKinnon

Doug Herr was the winner of the D-side, beating Jon Yellowega.

 

The Fort Frances Muskies boys’ hockey team is in exhibition action tonight.

They will face the Lake of the Woods Bears from Baudette at the Ice for Kids Arena beginning at 7:15 p.m.

On the courts, the Muskies boys’ basketball and girls’ volleyball teams are home to the Sioux North Warriors in NorWOSSA A league action.

Northern Lakes travels to Red Lake to play the Rams.

The International Falls Broncos boys basketball teams are playing in Warroad.
