It’s the 16th Annual Community Christmas Day Dinner in International Falls.
The free meal is Sunday December 25 at the Elks Lodge on 5th Street.
Leeland Grimm was a guest on the Wake-Up Borderland Show today (Thursday) to announce the event runs from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
Volunteers will be serving ham, potatoes, coleslaw, vegetables, dessert, hot coffee, and other beverages.
Donations will be accepted in support of Backus Community Cafe which offers free meals to the community every Tuesday and Thursday evenings of the week.
The organization averages about 180 meals a day.
Grimm says, “What we’re trying to do is any money that we can raise here through free will donations and donations by people that don’t show up is to support that. That takes a lot of money to do that 52 weeks of the year. We recognize the need for food insecure people in our community.
