NOHFC Supports Tourism Initiatives

24 tourism projects in northern Ontario are sharing 4.9 million dollars in funding from the province.

Most of the projects are located in northeastern Ontario, but Red Lake is getting almost $370,000 to hire an engineering firm for technical drawings for an Event Center.

Another $70,000 will go to Destination Northern Ontario to market seven communities including Kenora for francophone travel itineraries.

Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford says, “These investments will help northern tourism operations expand their offerings, create jobs and promote regional prosperity, while showcasing this beautiful part of Ontario to visitors from across the province and around the world.”

The money comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
