Splash Park Confirmed Winner

It is official.

The splash park project in Fort Frances is a winner in the Tbaytel for Good Community contest.

The project, billing itself as the Make a Big Splash Spray Park, earns $10 thousand.

It had finished first in an online vote with over 160,000 votes

The town’s Operations and Facilities manager Travis Rob says it was the community that made it happen.

“It’s not just that we were in the top three. The community and beyond the community really stepped up to support the project. I and the entire making Big Splash committee are absolutely thrilled with the response that we got on this,” says Rob.

Rob says it is an indication of the support for the project.

The group is now focused on seeking out additional sources of revenue.

“We’ve got other grant applications in for other programs. We’re going to be kicking off our fundraising initiatives right away as well. So, everything is kind of coming together all at once, and we’re really hoping to pull on this momentum that we have going now.”

The project is targeted for Legion Park, with construction targeted for 2023 and the site opening the next summer.
