Impaired Charges Laid in Stolen Vehicle Case

A Fort Frances woman is facing charges following an incident early Tuesday morning near Atikokan.

OPP were altered to a traffic complaint involving a vehicle reported stolen from Thunder Bay.

After initially failing to stop for police, the vehicle was later found parked on the side of Highway 11.

Police arrested the 24-year-old driver after determining she was impaired.

Several other charges were tacked on.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
  • Flight from Peace Officer, contrary to section 320.17 of the CC
  • Possession of Property Obtain by Crime 354(1)(a) of the CC
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to section 32(1) of the HTA
  • Drive with open Container of Liquor, contrary to 42(1) of the Liquor Liquor Act

She was later released and will be back in court in late November.
