UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns

United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss has announced her resignation.

The conservative party leader made the announcement this morning outside Downing Street.

Many MPs lost confidence in Truss and called for her resignation following failed economic programs that rocked financial markets.

“I recognize, given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.” said Truss.

She says she’ll stay on as PM until a new leader is chosen and appointed by King Charles III.

Truss is the shortest serving PM in the UK’s history, with only 45 days in office.
