A donation from the Kiwanis Club of Fort Frances to assist with fixing up Sunny Cove Camp.
The club is handing a cheque of almost $19 thousand to the town.
Treasurer Robin Wright says the money was acquired through the Moffat Family Fund.
“Us being able to get some money from the Moffat Fund in support of Sunny Cove Camp is very important to the Kiwanis Club, and we’re very happy to be able to give them this $18,900,” says Wright.
The club has had a long association with the camp.
It owned and operated the facility east of Fort Frances for several years before deciding to turn it over to the town about a decade ago.
Wright says they have not identified anything specific where the money should be spent.
Mayor June welcomes the donation.
She says they have identified about $350 thousand in upgrades that are required.
“Even though it wasn’t a large amount of money, it certainly will help us move forward with starting to rebuild and refurbish what needs to be done,” says Caul.
Caul says the town has been looking at other streams of funding, including government grants to do the work.
