Assistance Program Deadline a Month Away

Residents impacted by this past spring’s flooding have one month left to file a claim through the province’s Disaster Recovery Assistance program.

The program was activated in May for the Fort Frances area and in June for other parts of northwestern Ontario following heavy rains that led to area rivers, lakes and streams reaching record levels.

The program is intended to offset expenses not normally covered by insurance.

So far, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs has received 26 applications for assistance.

The deadline to apply is October 7.
