Boating Accident Claims Goderich’s Mayor

A man who died in a boating accident near Pickle Lake has been identified as the mayor of Goderich.

64-year-old John Grace was the lone person aboard a barge when it capsized Tuesday morning on Lake Saint Joseph, about 35 kilometres south of Pickle Lake.

OPP says the barge was transporting fuel.

Grace had been on Goderich town council for 17 years, the last four as mayor and was prepared to seek another four years in office.

The Ministries of Labour and Environment are also involved in the investigation.
