Hydro Still Working to Restore Power

Another day of no power for some in Nestor Falls.

Hydro One says crews continue to work to restore power to customers now numbering about one hundred.

Spokesperson Alicia Sayers says the damage caused by Monday morning’s storm was extensive.

“There are many downed trees. We’re patrolling the lines, but it’s actually difficult to see how many poles are broken. We’re using a helicopter to also assist with the delivery of materials, to offer locations, and our forestry crews are also working to create a path so our line crews can then access that equipment to make repairs,” says Sayers.

“We have additional crews coming in from surrounding areas who are assisting with restoration efforts. There has been some significant damage to our equipment, possibly from the number of trees that came down. So there is a lot of work to do to repair the local infrastructure.”

Hydro One is saying it could be late tonight before their work is complete.

Hydro One is also trying to resolve outages in the Burditt Lake area, which impact 190 of its customers.

It is still assessing an outage in the Mine Centre, Seine River and Lac La Croix area, impacting another 360 customers.

There is still an outage at Northwest Bay, with about 131 unable to turn on the power.

Hydro One says aiming for 10 p.m. tonight to have that restored as well.
