NDP Seek Fourth Dose Plan

The NDP wants to see a plan that allows more people to get a fourth dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Interim leader Peter Tabuns says the National Advisory Committee on Immunization is recommending a second round of booster shots, and Premier

Doug Ford should let Ontarians know what the plan is for expanding access.

“No one in Ontario wants to live through another rash of COVID-19 cases. No one wants our loved ones at risk of getting sick,” says Tabuns in a statement.

“Experts are sounding the alarm that it’s time to start moving on second boosters. NACI is now recommending a round of booster shots. Our neighbours in Quebec have been rolling up their sleeves again for weeks now. It’s time for Doug Ford to tell Ontarians what the plan is for expanding access to fourth doses of the COVID-19 vaccine,” says Tabuns.

A fourth dose has been offered in Ontario since the end of December to the most vulnerable residents.

It was expanded to include anyone 60 and older and Indigenous people and their non-Indigenous family members in April.

The province stated then that “expanding booster eligibility will provide an extra layer of protection against the Omicron and BA.2 variants and, in addition to antivirals, are another tool the province is using to live with and manage COVID-19.”
