Barwick to Host Canada Day Events

The township of Chapple will be celebrating Canada Day.

Its events will happen around the ball diamond in Barwick.

Chapple Township Councillor Phil Schram says events include the traditional fastball tournament.

“The Barwick Blue Knights will be playing, and teams will come from Fort Frances, Rainy River and Stratton,” says Schram.

Another highlight will be the parade.

“It’s gonna be quite a good parade,” notes Schram. “I got the car club from Fort Frances coming down. There’ll be tractors. The little kids will be at the front of the parade with their bikes. It’s going to be a pretty nice parade.”

Schram expects the Emo Fall Fair Queens to all take part. Judging will take place at 11 a.m., with the parade getting underway at 12 noon.

There will also be children’s games after the parade.

“We’re going to have a sawdust pile they can look for trinkets and money and candy or whatever we put in there for them. we’re going to have some games for the toddlers too.”
