Borderland Racing/Emo Township Team Up For Canada Day

The Borderland Racing Association and the township of Emo are joining forces to host activities on Canada Day.

They will happen at the Emo Fairgrounds and during tomorrow night’s races.

The Association’s Secretary, Alyssa Strachan, says it begins with a barbeque.

“We have a barbecue happening from 2-4 p.m. We have a drivers’ meet and greet, and that includes the stock car drivers as well as some go-kart drivers. They’ll have their cars and carts for people to look and see what they do,” says Strachan.

There will also be bouncy castles for the kids.

“At the races, we have a kid’s bike parade. We’re going to have kids come down our horse track and just do a little parade in front of the grandstands. We have free cake. There are prizes and giveaways, and we have fireworks at the end of the races.”

Events on the fairgrounds are free to attend. There is a charge to attend the races.

Children can still register to take part in the parade. Their parents can reach out to the Borderland Racing Association through its website, email or Facebook page.

A fireworks display will cap the day.

Strachan says they will open up the grandstands at 9 p.m. for people to watch.

If you don’t want to sit in the grandstands, it is recommended you bring a lawn chair.
