The Alzheimer Society for the Kenora-Rainy River District is rolling out its Coffee Break fundraising campaign again.
Spokesperson Shyler Hendrickson says it’s an easy way for businesses or individuals to support the Society through awareness and raising a few dollars.
“It’s our annual local fundraiser here in the Kenora-Rainy River District. Businesses in the community or anyone really can host what we call a coffee break event, which is a fundraising event where you sell a cup of coffee, and the proceeds come back to us to support our programs and services,” says Hendrickson.
The Society wasn’t able to run the campaign last year because of COVID restrictions.
However, some businesses have organized private coffee breaks and fundraising within their offices.
Some restaurants in the past have thrown their doors open and welcomed the public in for a Coffee Break.
Hendrickson says you can host an event either way.
“We understand that businesses and people in the community are still a little bit wary, even with things opening back up. So we have people fundraising internally, people fundraising externally, virtually. Really, you have a lot of freedom with how you want to host one of these events,” says Hendrickson.
For more information or to register for a Coffee Break, contact the Society’s Kenora office at 1-800-682-0245.
If you are looking to take part in an event, head to the Society’s Facebook page for locations and times.
Information on upcoming Coffee Breaks will be posted regularly from now until the end of March.
