Health Unit Offering Students Routine Tetanus Shots

The Northwestern Health Unit is working to catch up on routine vaccinations for young people and others.

The health unit is downsizing its larger-scale COVID clinic in favour of smaller ones and ones with more targeted outreach.

This includes community clinics and those in schools.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kit Young Hoon says they have started using those clinics for other routine vaccinations missed during the pandemic.

“High School students will be able to get their tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) booster shot. Information has been shared with schools and is also posted on the walk-in clinic schedule on our website,” says Dr. Young Hoon.

Eligible students can also get their COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.

Currently, there are no clinics listed for the Fort Frances, Rainy River or Atikokan areas.

Eligible students can also get their COVID-19 vaccine at the same time.
