Health Unit Encouraged By Cautious Reopening Plan

The Medical Officer of Health for the Northwestern Health Unit admits she likes the province’s cautious approach to reopening.

At the end of March of 2022, all health protocols could be lifted.

Dr. Kit Young Hoon hopes that can happen.

“I think it’s very important the province has announced this, it gives everyone a sense of what’s going to happen,” says Dr. Young Hoon.

“I’m appreciative of the fact that it is going to be a gradual reopening and that they are going to be monitoring case numbers as they move forward with the reopening plan.”

Dr. Young Hoon adds the reopening plan depends on what our COVID-19 numbers look like at that time.

“I think one of the key things with the reopening plan is that it is very much dependant on case numbers that occur. So the plan is still only tentative and may have to be slowed down if case numbers were to increase.”

She suggests the province may also put restrictions in place if there is an outbreak in a certain area of the province.
